A New York-based organization that deals with LGBT class issues is having cash flow problems of its own.
Queers for Economic Justice told supporters on Monday that $40,000 in funding from the state has been stalled by legislators, and as a result, it may not be able to pay its staff this Friday. The stall effects several non-profit organizations that regularly receive state funding.
According to the letter, signed by executive director Kenyon Farrow, a foundation that supports QEJ will advance a grant to the organization, but he says "that takes time, and we need the support immediately, and it will only meet part of our needs."
Most recently, QEJ was behind a move to add more protections for transgender people attempting to obtain welfare benefits in New York City.
