Activists Crash Party for Antigay N.Y. Senator

Members of the direct action group Queer Rising disrupted a birthday party held Sunday for New York state senator Joseph Addabbo, one of eight Democrats who voted against the marriage equality bill late last year.

Addabbo celebrated his birthday with a fund-raiser in Queens, where activists confronted him about the substantial financial and electoral assistance he received from gay groups in 2008, only to vote against the marriage bill despite suggesting he would support it. They yelled "Joe Must Go!" to a room that included the senator's family.
