The Minnesota Family Council is filing a request to intervene in a lawsuit seeking same-sex marriage rights in Minnesota.
The request, expected to be filed Thursday, is in response to a lawsuit filed in May by three same-sex couples seeking to overturn the state's 1997 law limiting marriage to heterosexual couples, reports WQOW of Eau Claire, Wis.
The Minnesota Family Council is represented by Alliance Defense Fund attorney Jordan Lorence, who frequently represents conservative Christian groups across the nation in gay rights cases.
Lorence said the Minnesota Family Council, which lobbied to ban gay marriage in the state, will argue that the Minnesota constitution does not leave room for legal same-sex marriage
