Polis Endorses Fenty for D.C. Mayor

Gay Colorado congressman Jared Polis voiced his support for the reelection of Washington, D.C., mayor Adrian M. Fenty at a recent gathering of Fenty's supporters.

Polis introduced Fenty, who spoke in front of more than 100 of his supporters, according to The Washington Post.

The endorsement comes at a crucial time in Fenty's quest for reelection because many gay rights supporters question his commitment to their cause.

Although Fenty signed the D.C. bill making gay marriage legal, some LGBT activists criticize Fenty for being silent about gay issues. Fenty will face city council chair Vincent Gray in his mayoral race.
