Hundreds of people showed up to a school board meeting in Helena, Mont., to protest a possible change in the sex education curriculum, which would teach young children about sex and sexuality.
Under the proposed curriculum, kindergarten students would learn the proper anatomical names for genitalia, first graders would learn about homosexuality, and fifth grade students would learn about the different types of intercourse, according to the Associated Press.
While some were outraged at the possible changes, others who spoke at the school board meeting on Tuesday said the curriculum would contain honest, science-based information to help students make healthy decisions. One student who commented at the meeting said he was constantly bullied for his perceived sexual orientation, adding that expanded education on the topic would help stop bullying.
