More than 25 men were released from police custody in Syria on Thursday after spending three months in jail for allegedly organizing private gay parties.
Syrian officials were "embarrassed" by the media attention the case received internationally, Gay Middle East reports.
Police raided at least four different private events over the course of five weeks in March and April. Many of the men were at their first gay party ever.
