Gay Urban Resort to Open in NYC
A local news outlet caught a glimpse of the plans for the Out NYC, an urban resort geared toward gay travelers with offerings that include a hotel, restaurant, and nightclub in Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan.
According to NY1, "The site, which takes up three quarters of an acre, will include 90,000 square feet of hotel, restaurant, retail and nightlife space."
Located on the site of an abandoned homeless shelter on West 42nd Street, the 5,000 square-foot nightclub section of the resort is scheduled to open in early 2011. The rest of the facility will open later next fall.
"The hotel, which will be run by Axel Hotels, will have 127 hotels rooms and eight shared luxury accommodation rooms," reports NY1. "It will include The Nikel Spa, a pool club, a gym with membership open to the community and a 2,500 square foot catering facility. Developers will add two more floors to the current structure and glass-in two of the atriums.
"There will be a 24/7 cafe and a sit-down restaurant called Kitchen. Then there will be a nightlife venue called Exell Dance Bar."
Developers said the cost a stay would be "affordable," or below $300 per night, compared to other boutique hotels in town. Options will include shared luxury accommodations for younger tourists at $99 per night.
