The New York State Democratic Party has launched a site with facts about Carl Paladino, the Tea Party favorite who shook the establishment when he won the Republican gubernatorial nomination Tuesday.
PaladinoFacts.com, which includes a recent clip from Rachel Maddow's show, attacks the wealthy real estate developer for, among other things, using antigovernment rhetoric at the same time he benefits as the owner of government buildings in Buffalo. Paladino has said that he opposes marriage equality.
"If Carl Paladino wants to know why New Yorkers are 'Mad as Hell,' he should start by looking in a mirror," said New York State Democratic Party chairman Jay Jacobs in a news release. "They're angry at opportunists like Paladino who got rich by peddling their insider influence in Albany. Paladino's favorite politicians banked large checks from the real estate developer, and he pocketed millions in government rents, sweetheart deals, and tax breaks."
State attorney general Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic gubernatorial nominee, declined to attack Paladino when asked about his rival at a press conference Thursday.
