No stranger to gay rights causes, the pop star focuses on hate crimes for her Give a Damn Campaign, with a public service announcement starring Ricky Martin, Elton John, and other luminaries that premiered Monday during CNN's Larry King Live.
"We as parents, as people, as a nation need to stand up and say enough is enough. We will not tolerate hate any longer," Lauper said. "Hate is learned and we need to teach our children that being different is OK. The best way we can do that is to lead by example and treat others with dignity and respect."
The PSA for Lauper's campaign, funded by her True Colors Fund, premiered during an antibullying segment on the program.
