A Marietta, Ga., teenager comes out on YouTube and sends a powerful message that things get better.

Marina Belotserkovskaya realized she was a lesbian while attending a public middle school, but didn't feel comfortable telling anyone. She was nonetheless the target of bullies.

"One time there were probably like 10 kids in the classroom yelling at me. [The] teacher didn't really do anything, which is what shocks me," she told WXIA News in Atlanta.

After her parents transferred her to a different school, things changed. She found acceptance and support, and she is now active with her school's chapter of the Anti-Defamation League. She has also reached out to kids worldwide via a video she created and posted on YouTube.

"I consider myself to have gone through hell," Belotserkovskaya said. "I want to show people that ... as dark as things may seem, everything will get better. I really wanted to stress that. My story did have that happy ending."
