Jake Gyllenhaal's best friend from childhood sometimes acts as his wardrobe assistant, and as he explained to Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday, when he won the BAFTA for Brokeback Mountain, the two had a bunch of people thinking they were an item.
Gyllenhaal says his agent, manager and a bunch of assistants walked in on his friend trying to tie his tie. They said, "Oh, we're so sorry, we'll just let you guys be."
Later, when he won, Gyllenhaal says his friend screamed out, "Yeah, baby," prompting a somewhat shocked reaction from the crowd.
His friend recalled the story at Gyllenhaal's 30th birthday party, and Gyllenhaal passed the story along to Jimmy Kimmel, who was having his own issues with a tie on the show. "Maybe I can get your boyfriend to tie it for me," he joked.
