A lesbian couple's engagement notice in a Jamestown, N.Y., newspaper has sparked debate as to whether the publication should have included it.
Amber, 20, and Katie Allison, 19, got engaged around Thanksgiving of last year and married in Connecticut shortly after. However, they decided to announce a local ceremony officially in Jamestown's Post-Journal.
The newspaper, without comment, published the announcement prominently, to the surprise of the couple. The move caused numerous readers to comment on the announcement. The couple said that while most of the feedback has been positive, there have been others who think the newspaper should not have printed the announcement.
