Australia: Harassed Gay Soldier Questions Future in Army

A gay Australian army psychologist said his career is almost certainly over after several of his colleagues threatened to kill him.

Maj. Paul Morgan said he received an email from soldier Marcus Andrew Georgiou, who threatened to cut his "homosexual carcass into one hundred pieces to feed you to thee [sic] marine life in Botany Bay," The Sydney Morning Heraldreports.

Last month, police said, the soldier, using the name "Steve Austin," created the page and used it to expose and intimidate Morgan, two members of Sydney's commando regiment 2RAR, and another soldier. The page featured violent and pornographic images aimed at intimidating them. After seeing the page, Morgan said his capacity to act as a military psychologist was "probably at an end."

"Right now, because it seems that so many of my colleagues conspired with Marcus Georgiou to start a gay hate website to drive gays and lesbians from the army and because so many watched until one person stood up ... it may seem that there is a culture of gay hate in the army," Morgan said.
