Straight actor Trevor Donovan says he's happy his gay character Teddy on 90210 is a role model for questioning teens and that playing him attracts female admirers, according to an interview with Life & Style magazine shared exclusively on Today.com.
"It's been good for me," the actor says. "Girls want to challenge it. They kind of assume I'm [gay in real life]) and try to change me back. Of course, I let them!"
Asked about being a role model for teenage viewers who may be confused about their sexuality, Donovan says, "I couldn't be happier."
90210 will return September 13, but Donovan's character will appear in only about five episodes, according to TV Line.
