Gay Veteran Supporting Fred Karger in Presidential Run
Bob Garon, a gay Vietnam veteran from New Hampshire who got into a heated debate with Mitt Romney last month over gay marriage, said in a video sent out today that he will vote for Fred Karger.
The gay Republican candidate and Garon met at the Chez Vachon restaurant in Manchester, the same place where Romney slid into a booth next to Garon in early December after noticing the man was wearing a veterans hat.
"I asked him... if he was in favor of repealing the law [that allows same-sex marriage in New Hampshire,] and he said yes, and that took me by surprise," Garon says in the video. "I said, you are obviously in favor of taking my constitutional rights away, and he sat back and said, 'While in my opinion when they wrote the Constitution they didn't have same-sex marriage in mind.'"
Recent polls have Romney predicted to gain 39% of New Hampshire votes.
