Hi there,
🕯️ In the hushed sanctuary of St. Thomas’ Parish in Dupont Circle, there was a sacred memorial in fabric and thread. During WorldPride, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C., in partnership with St. Thomas’ and the National AIDS Memorial, unveiled a deeply personal display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt that included panels for chorus members who were lost to the epidemic in the 1980s and '90s. Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi made an appearance at the exhibit over the weekend. The Advocate's John Casey was there and spoke to Pelosi and members of the chorus about the quilt. 🕯️
👏🏽 U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon and U.S. Rep. Becca Balint of Vermont, both Democrats, have introduced legislation to nullify Donald Trump’s anti-LGBTQ+ executive orders.
🎥 A new documentary, which premiered Saturday at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, follows Delaware Democratic Congresswoman Sarah McBride’s unprecedented run to become the first out transgender member of the U.S. House and her monumental win.
Onward and upward,
