Hello and Happy Thursday, folks! Audience Editor Edgar Ramirez here, back in your inbox to try and do a short recap -- key word, try -- of the past 24 hours(ish) in the nation's captial.

The day started with journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico being turned away from the White House, hours after a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to immediately restore the press credentials it had revoked from the three news organizations. The reporters returned to the White House around midday and were then granted access, though as Christopher Wiggins reports, the drama is far from over.

Speaking of the so-called free press, Republican Mississippi Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith appeared to motion toward Capitol Police officers Wednesday as Daniel Grimes, a correspondent for The Don Lemon Show, tried to ask her about the death of Nolan Wells, a Black 18-year-old from her state. One officer rose from a desk and approached Grimes, Christopher reports. Moments later, a second stepped between the journalist and the senator.

Don Lemon told The Advocate in a phone call that Hyde-Smith’s refusal to engage was “insulting” to people in Mississippi. You can find Christopher's full story and interview with Don here.

As if all that wasn't enough, there's also Tommy Tuberville, the U.S. Senator from Alabama who is currently the Republican nominee for the state’s governor, going viral for his comments on, well, see for yourself.
