Quick, thaw these men from photographer Bernard André before they get freezer burn.
Freely inspired by the successful television series Game of Thrones, these photos are the result of the work of Belgian photographer Bernard Andre and makeup artist and stylist Lars de Valk.
An allegory on a long-lasting winter, these photos were originally shot for a 2018 calendar. Although the photographs were digital, the technical realization represents a considerable amount of work. The techniques for shooting are "old school," using makeup, special effects (ice and artificial snow), lighting, and a smoke machine instead of using purely digital techniques to create the visuals.
More than 40 hours of makeup and setting up for the 12 models and more than 120 hours of shooting and editing of the photos thereafter went into the production. They are made entirely with Lightroom software and without using Photoshop.
For more of Bernard Andre's work, see his web site, Facebook, and Instagram.
