Since 1978, the city of Provincetown, Mass., has put on Carnival, its celebration of community and expression. This year's theme was "Land of Toys," and attendees did not disappoint during the festival that had several events between August 11-17. Check out the images below to see people in Barbie outfits, troll gear, and everything in between from the event's parade.

Started by a group of gay innkeepers who wanted to invigorate the local community, Carnival is now one of the largest LGBTQ+ celebrations in the U.S., and Ptown uses the annual weeklong event to celebrate both its creative legacy alongside its history as a welcoming destination and oasis for the LGBTQ+ community.

Check out the images below from this year's event.
