Perez will attempt to "change the culture of the Democratic Party and DNC."

Former Obama labor secretary Tom Perez has been chosen to lead the Democratic Party. He was elected chair at a gathering of 400 party insiders in Atlanta on Saturday.
In a speech before the vote, Perez told the crowd, "We need a chair who can not only take the fight to Donald Trump and make sure we talk about our positive message. We also need a chair who can... change the culture of the Democratic Party and DNC."
Perez inherits a party in turmoil following an unsuccessful presidential election that was rocked by hacked emails and accusations of favoring Hillary Clinton over Senator Bernie Sanders in the party's primary.
