The Emmys are here and they're queer.

Schitt's Creek, Killing Eve, and Dead to Me were among the shows with leading LGBTQ+ characters and storylines to pick up nominations Tuesday from the Television Academy.

The first garnered nods for stars Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dan Levy, and Annie Murphy as well as Outstanding Comedy Series; the second got recognition for stars Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer plus Outstanding Drama Series; and the third honored stars Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini as well as Outstanding Drama Series.

Other nominees of LGBTQ+ note include Billy Porter (Pose), Zendaya (Euphoria), Hugh Jackman (Bad Education), Jeremy Pope (Hollywood), Kerry Washington (Little Fires Everywhere), Regina King (Watchmen), Issa Rae (Insecure), Olivia Colman (The Crown), Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Cate Blanchett (Mrs. America), Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black), Jim Parsons (Hollywood), the Queer Eye hosts, What We Do in the Shadows, We're Here, and RuPaul's Drag Race.

The livestream announcement was hosted by Leslie Jones with some help from Laverne Cox, Josh Gad, and Tatiana Maslany. Cox, acknowledging Jones's role as a guest judge on Drag Race last season, referenced a joke the comedian had made on the drag reality competition: "She already done had horses."
