Kathy Griffin Lesbian Kiss Cut From SVU

Kathy Griffin made a highly anticipated appearance on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, but her lesbian kiss scene was cut.

Kathy Griffin made her highly anticipated first appearance Wednesday night on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, but the scene in which she kisses Mariska Hargitay was axed.

In the scene below, Griffin, who plays a lesbian activist, is rebuffed by character Olivia Benson, played by Hargitay. The rejection comes despite the Griffin character’s flattery that Benson is “Ellen, Joan Crawford, and Calamity Jane all rolled into one. You can balance a checkbook, I’ll throw in Suze Orman.”

Good for Marsika for axing the scene. The gay theme was prevailant throughout the show and I think it would have just been too much.

After watching this episode I can see why Kathy Griffin is on the D list. This is not a talented actress. And the writing was REALLY bad. Yikes!!!

I'm a fan of Kathy Griffin's stand-up, but this was a badly written, badly acted episode of an otherwise good show. It was as if it was written and performed by a troop of High School kids performing a skit as part of their work for the Gay-Straight Alliance.

I also saw the SVU show last night. Kathy can sometimes be very brash, but she is a straight ally for our community. I was really disappointed that NBC showed the kiss between Kathy and Chris, but didn't show the one between Kathy and Mariska. I was so disappointed about this discrimination that I went to NBC's website WWW.NBC.COM I went to the contact us tab and located an area to post comments on particular shows. You have to go through a survey and register to be able to post a comment. I advised NBC that the open discrimination that they showed during last night's episode was unacceptable and would not be tolerated. I'm asking everyone to let their voices be heard. Flood NBC's website with comments about this episode. This will definitely carry our voices further. Let's let NBC know that we have power in numbers by letting our voices be heard. This only takes a few moments.

Whats with this dishing Kathy Griffin? She may not be your cup of tea, but she is to many. Griffin is definitely a 'gay community' supporter and deserves respect at least for that. We are many times our own worst enemy. Just cut all those folks off at the knees whom we don't like for whatever reason. Then, you will find out there is no one left to support us at all except for those who THINK they know it all.

I saw the clip with the Griffin/Hargitay kiss, and was looking forward to seeing it on national network TV. Pretty disappointing to have it cut. I agree there are several annoying things in this episode, and it will be interesting to hear NBC's reasoning for cutting the kiss. In terms of the plot, I think it's stronger to have something ***almost*** happen. The dialogue throughout's clunky, which may influence the acting being less than deep. Anyway, I was expecting to see the kiss, and I wish I had!!!

i'm a fan of "law & order" and i think "law & order: svu" is even better. but, this particular episode on "svu" could've been better. i certainly did not like the way most of the lesbians were portrayed. i'm sure there are some lesbians out there that are full of hate, possibly due to an oppressive environment they may live in. but, i found the writing of this episode to be way over the top.

WHY? That would make this story more journalistic -- and interesting.

Kathy Griffin was GREAT last night on L&O! I have admired her for speaking up and out for us GLBT's for YEARS! I am pretty sure she is heterosexual, and this makes her an even better rep for us. She protrayed a Lesbian community leader in this episode; and did a great job. As a gay man, I have always appreciated her comedic - and now drammatic - talent. OMG! WOW. Law and Order is on the cutting EDGE of including GLBT issues! Great show. Too bad that stupid NBC network cut their kiss scene. What year is it now? Oh yea...2010! Grow up, NBC! You have a MULTI-COLORED PEACOCK AS YOUR NETWORK LOGO! HELLO?
