Tracy Morgan Calls Being Gay a Choice

30 Rock star and comedian Tracy Morgan said that being gay is a “choice” during a raunchy performance Friday night at Carnegie Hall in New York City that promptly emptied seats.

His statement about sexual orientation was part of a lewd routine that included jokes about a potential sex tape between President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, according to the Gatecrasher blog of the New York Daily News.

“People seemed to not be laughing at his jokes, but more because they were shocked and appalled with what was coming out of his mouth,” one witness told the blog. “Morgan talked trash about homosexuality (saying it’s ‘a choice,’ which drew gasps), drugs, pornography and what he calls ‘politricks’ -- far edgier subjects than what his alter ego, Jordan, gets air time for.”

The performance drew a standing ovation from Spike Lee, John Singleton, and 30 Rock costar Jane Krakowski, according to Gatecrasher.

Tracy Morgan is an idiot, which is why I pay little attention to what he has to say. Furthermore how can a straight man and I take it that he is straight say that it is a choice. It makes no sense. Only a gay person would no for sure. Tracy Morgan should stick to what he knows and based on what comes out of his mouth that is very little. He is a comedian and not a good one, and should leave these sorts of things to those with more than half a brain. Lastly Tracy Morgan does not speak for the entire black race, so please stop with the racist remarks.

So you're saying that sexual organs define someone's sexual orientation? Wow, you peopole just get more ignorant every day. I am a gay male and I definitely didn't choose this lifestyle. But you know what, I accept it. Maybe you should learn to as well because we're not going to stop being who we are just because narrowminded people don't understand.

For the person saying being black is a choice last time I checked thats a proven fact its not but being gay, its your choice to be attracted to the same sex becuase #1 its not normal #2if so then man and female would have both sex organs for reproduction.

Tracy is not an ethical leader or prominent intellectual. He was doing a comedy act, not a university lecture, a sermon, or a speech in congress. His jokes were in poor taste, but does anyone take him seriously? Is he going to influence public policy?

I agree that its too bad that I will have to stop watching 30 Rock as well. I can't just stand that kind of ignorance, especially when it has been the cause of so much trouble for the gay community and essentially humanity as well. I love you Tina Fey, but a protester has to do what a protester has to do! PS - If you know someone like Tracy, you can have them watch the 'Gay Education' Video on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PooEhBxh0NY It uses SCIENCE (you know, that method that proves stuff?) to show that homosexuality is not a choice.
