J. Lo in, Ellen and Kara Out

Actress, singer, and former Fly Girl Jennifer Lopez may have inked a deal to join the judges' panel for the 10th season of American Idol.

As comedian Ellen DeGeneres and songwriter-producer Kara DioGuardi exit the show, Lopez is reportedly "excited" about her new gig, People magazine reports.

Lopez's longtime manager Benny Medina set up the deal to replace founding judge Simon Cowell, who announced he would move on to his new reality talent show, the U.S. version of The X Factor. Randy Jackson remains the only judge whose job has gone untouched since the show's premiere in 2002.

JLo is a talented singer as much as I am a talented neurosurgeon...what does she knows about music or even acting?..all of her records have tanked, even the ones in Spanish....why not to bring Ricky Martin as a judge?

I think Randy is too stupid to read the news, Nigel Lythgoe one of the creators of AI had said Kara, Ellen and Randy had to go and 3 not 4 new judges should be assigned, Randy is a good producer but is not one to find talent, Kara is a songwriter and has written a lot of songs, but maybe 1 in 10 has been successful, she is no David Foster or an Elton John, and Ellen is a comedian so what does she know about the music industry, sure she likes to showcase talent on her show but that talent has already made an impression somewhere else first, she couldn't get Beiber to appear on her show so she found a 12 year old who she has created a record company around. Unfortunately his site has gone silent because Ellen insists on complete control. Nigel also said he would replace her except she had a contract. I don't see Justin Timberlake but I do see Timbalake who is a good producer who finds artists. Jennifer Lopez is a joke, it is her husband they want, he is the all round musician, not her.

Maybe everyone is leaving because AI blows and has been that way since after season three ended. Fox is beating a dead horse and Randy is either too stupid to get out while the getting is good or crazy like a fox and is going to ride the wave to the end because he knows his options are limited when someone finally wakes up and pulls the plug on this hot mess of a show.

@brian, as much as I HATE to agree with you with all the race baiting going on by the anti-obamas (not saying you are one ;) ). I'm afraid I must agree with you on this one. I can understand Ellen's reasons for wanting to leave the show. I never did see her as feeling comfortable in that format, nor do I think it suits her personality well. She's too 'classy' for it. It's below her. That being said, I don't think her exit was 'entirely' her idea, but whatever. As for Kara, I actually grew to like her and I think she actually has credentials in which to critique the show. If they are doing away with Kara, why not Randy? Simple, like you said. Because he's black. Now would be the perfect time to just usher in a whole new panel.
