No Legal Marijuana in California

2010_marijuana_0

California voters look to have rejected Prop. 19, an effort to legalize marijuana and allow local governments to tax the sale of the drug.

Few issues have received as much attention around the state, though relatively little money was spent on the campaign. The measure was opposed by law enforcement groups and elected officials from both political parties.

If Prop. 19 had been passed in California, U.S. attorney general Eric Holder said the Obama administration would "vigorously enforce" federal drug laws against Californians who grow or sell marijuana for recreational use.
