Nearly 2,000 people gathered in Delhi, India's capital, to celebrate gay pride in the first such event since homosexuality was legalized in 2009 by the High Court.

Carrying rainbow flags and signs, organizers told the BBC that gay people were lining the streets to celebrating having a place in a still-conservative Indian society.

"There has been a certain sort of change but it has not been a revolution," one marcher told the BBC. "It has been decriminalized but society has not completely changed along with it."
