A documentary about Renee Richards, the transgender woman who fought and won the right to compete in the women's U.S. Open in the 1970s, will be part of the fifth annual Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival that kicks off April in Manhattan.
Renee, directed by Eric Drath, includes rare archival footage of Richards and interviews with tennis greats like Martina Navratilova, John McEnroe, and Billie Jean King. The 75-minute Renee is one of six documentaries that will be featured at the festival, which runs April 20-May 1.
