Pawlenty: Marriage Equality "Devalues" the Institution

Anti-marriage equality rhetoric from some presidential hopefuls on the Sunday morning talk show circuit didn’t take a break yesterday just because New York was celebrating hundreds of gay and lesbian nuptials throughout the state.
“I don't think all domestic relationships are the same as traditional marriage,” Tim Pawlenty told CNN’s Candy Crowley on State of the Union. “Marriage between a man and a woman is something that should remain elevated socially, culturally, practically, legally, morally in our society.
“I think society devalues traditional marriage by saying all other domestic relationships are the same as traditional marriage — you then dilute and devalue traditional marriage,” said Pawlenty, the former Minnesota governor who’s currently polling well behind fellow GOP candidates in Iowa.
