The film mag indieWIRE runs an annual list of the best films that didn't find theatrical distribution in 2004. On its list of 15: The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, the film based on the story collection by young queer author-of-the-moment J.T. LeRoy. Directed by and starring Asia Argento, the film also features Peter Fonda, Marilyn Manson, Kip Pardue, Jeremy Renner, John Robinson (Elephant), Winona Ryder, and Michael Pitt. Although the film played the Cannes, Toronto, and AFI film festivals, moviegoing audiences haven't seen it yet.
