Variety reports that cross-dressing comedian Eddie Izzard has committed to a dark comedy pilot for the FX network, playing an Irish patriarch who moves to the American South to run a confidence scheme. "[Izzard's] gotten phenomenal notices, and we were aware of him as an emerging dramatic actor," FX entertainment president John Landgraf told Variety. "We love to allow actors to appear in something different from their familiar guise. That's been true for Michael Chiklis, Jamie Foxx, and Denis Leary." No date has yet been set for shooting the pilot, which remains untitled for the moment.
