Queer Eye's Thom Filicia let go as Pier 1 spokesperson

CNN reports that Pier 1 Imports dropped Queer Eye for the Straight Guy interior design guru Thom Filicia as company spokesperson in February. The hiring of Filicia made a CNN-Money magazine list of "branding blunders," noting that Pier 1's already declining sales continued to slump after Filicia replaced previous spokesperson Kirstie Alley. A spokesperson told CNN that the company is working on a new ad campaign, which won't feature any celebrities.
