Out actor Alan
Cumming was the host of Friday's Drama League Awards
presentation where, appropriately enough, a number of
gay-inclusive and gay-created shows were honored.
Jersey Boys was tagged for Distinguished
Production of a Musical, while Alan Bennett's
History Boys took the prize for
Distinguished Production of a Play. Stephen Sondheim's
Sweeney Todd was lauded in the Musical Revival
category, with Awake and Sing! taking the Play
Revival prize. Christine Ebersole was honored for
Distinguished Performance for her two roles in the
off-Broadway musical Grey Gardens. Bridge and Tunnel
and Lisa Kron's Well were previously honored by
the group in earlier off-Broadway incarnations.
