Alan Ball returns
to the big screen

Alan Ball, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of American Beauty and creator of Six Feet Under, is set to begin filming a new project August 2. The untitled picture will focus on a young woman, the daughter of a Lebanese-American father and an American mother, who comes of age during the first Gulf War. Casting is under way. (Reuters)
