At the Cannes Film Festival, film distributor TLA Releasing acquired the North American and United Kingdom rights to the upcoming film Naked Boys Singing.

The movie, heading to theaters this fall, is a big-screen adaptation of the stage original. The musical first hit Los Angeles in 1998, receiving accolades from L.A. Weekly and Backstage West. Naked Boys Singing is now playing in New York City and features songs written by Bruce Vilanch.

TLA purchased the film rights from Funny Boy Films, which produced Naked Boys as well as other queer crowd-pleasers like Latter Days and Adam & Steve.

"The fun-loving spirit of this movie is contagious. The cast is wonderful," said producer Kirkland Tibbels in a press release. "And I guarantee you won't be able to take your eyes off the screen for a moment." (The Advocate)
