Filmmaker Ruby Yang is working on a new documentary about gay life in China and the pressures of China's one-child policy, according to Reuters.

"There's a lot of pressure to produce an heir," Yang told Reuters. "Many gay men are married and live a double life. They lie to their parents, lie to their wives."

Yang, who won an Academy Award for her film The Blood of Yingzhou (2006), has support from many state organizations in China despite Chinese censorship policies sensitive to domestic issues.

The film, tentatively titled Double Life, is set to be completed by May. Yang is not expecting it to be allowed release in China. (The Advocate)
