The 10th Annual
Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival announced a
partial screening schedule for the 10-day event, which
begins April 25.
Screenings will
take place in several venues including the Gusman Center
for the Performing Arts and the Colony Theatre. The
opening-night gala will start with the comedy
Breakfast With Scot, about an ex-NHL
hockey player who ends up with temporary custody of
recently orphaned Scot, an 11-year-old boy who loves
glitter, tinsel, and sparkle.
The festival will
also pay tribute to prolific filmmaker Christine
Vachon, who produced I'm Not There, The Notorious
Bettie Page, and Savage Grace, which will
be screened during the event.
The Fort
Lauderdale Film Festival will coincide with the Miami
festival this year, running May 1-4. The event
is scheduled to open with the documentary Ask
Not, a follow-up to Daddy and Papa, about the
military's ban on openly gay service members. Call
Me Troy, which chronicles the life of the
Reverend Troy Perry,will close the Fort
Lauderdale festival.
The complete
festival schedule will be announced March 24. (The
