L Word to Continue Online and in Spin-Off

A spin-off of the hit Showtime lesbian drama The L Word is currently in development with producer Ilene Chaiken, AfterEllen.com reported Sunday. One of the girls from The L Word will star in the spin-off "as a sort of cross-over," Showtime entertainment president Robert Greenblatt told AfterEllen.com.

The sixth season of the drama, which will begin airing in January 2009, will be the show's final season. "It's going to be an amazing season because there's a big mystery element to the show in the final year, and then it's going to continue online to a large extent," Greenblatt told AfterEllen.com.

While the web series and the spin-off are still both in development, "we're just being very tight-lipped about it," Greenblatt said to AfterEllen.com. "In fact, there's things we're not even telling the actors." (The Advocate)
