Barb & Star's Friendship Is the Best Love Story this Valentine's Day

Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar
Lionsgate

Friends Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo's Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar is a silly, fun love story about friendship out this weekend.

Real-life friends, writing partners, and costars of the smash hit Bridesmaids, Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo are back with Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, their perfect absurdist escape for our times that is also a love letter to friendship. And it's now available to rent in time for Valentine's Day.

Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar

Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumulo

Having just lost their jobs at the local furniture store and longing for a little excitement outside of their lives in Nebraska, lifelong friends Barb (Mumolo) and Star (Wiig) travel to the exotic beaches of Vista Del Mar, Fla., for a reprieve they hope will include banana boat rides and Mai Tais. But the best friends get caught up in an evil plan hatched by former Vista Del Mar resident Sharon Gordon Fisherman (Wiig in a dual role that channels any number of Tilda Swinton characters and Dr. Evil) to seek revenge on the town that shunned her. Along the way, they meet Gordon's number 1 henchman and lover, Edgar (Jamie Dornan), who throws a wrench of jealousy into the love story that is Barb and Star's friendship.

Throw in a giant bowl of booze with hallucinogenic pills, plenty of pastel culottes, turtles, and yacht rock (when was the last time you heard the Bertie Higgins song "Key Largo"?), and Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar's brand of a silly fantasy escape is the next best thing to actually traveling somewhere.

If that weren't enough, Damon Wayans Jr., Vanessa Bayer, Wendy McLendon-Covey, and Fortune Feimster appear in the movie.

Watch the trailer for Lionsgate's Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar below and rent it platforms including Amazon Prime TV, Apple TV, Roku, Fandango, Vudu, and more.
