A new Time/CNN poll shows that about 80% of Americans favor legalizing the use of marijuana for medicinal use, the New York Post reports. More than three quarters of the people polled also said that people possessing very small amounts of the drug, whether for medicinal use or not, should not be sentenced to any jail time, and 34% favored outright legalizing the drug in all circumstances. The poll was released shortly before residents in several states are set to vote on ballot initiatives regarding marijuana use. In Arizona, Proposition 203 would create a medical marijuana registry and a state system to distribute the drug. In Nevada, Ballot Question 9 would amend the state constitution to decriminalize the possession of up to three ounces or less of the drug under any circumstance by adults 21 years of age and older.
