Spitting, urinating, or discharging any bodily substance onto a corrections official or police officer would become a felony in Wyoming under a proposed bill that was introduced to protect law enforcement officers from exposure to HIV and other diseases. Hepatitis, HIV, and other infections may be passed through bodily substances. Saying it is critical to do everything to protect law enforcement, the state senate's Minerals, Business, and Economic Development Committee unanimously recommended the bill Wednesday. Body substance assault would be considered aggravated assault and could be punished by a 10-year prison sentence. The bill does not address body fluid assault on the general public. (AP)
