legislators call for renewal of Ryan White Act

A New Hampshire legislative committee studying the state's system for helping HIV-positive residents is urging Gov. John Lynch and the state congressional delegation to seek continued funding for the federal Ryan White CARE Act, which is up for renewal. Legislators have been concerned about possible cuts to Ryan White, through which New Hampshire obtains most HIV program funding. The committee said Ryan White's renewal is essential to the state's nearly 1,000 HIV-positive residents. (AP)
