A new drug combination has been developed that will offset the hardening of HIV patients' arteries by the protease inhibitors that extend their lives. While protease inhibitors have been miracle drugs for those suffering from HIV and AIDS, some users have experienced hardening of the arteries as a side effect. A new drug, called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors, have prevented the negative cardiovascular effect after being tested on mice.

The finding was discovered by researchers at the University of Kentucky, reported Health Day News. (The Advocate)
