D.E.B.S. director Robinson signed for Love Bug remake

Fresh from the Sundance Film Festival premiere of D.E.B.S., her feature directorial debut, out filmmaker Angela Robinson has signed to take the wheel of Disney's Herbie the Love Bug, a remake of the 1968 comedy The Love Bug. With Robinson now on board, the project is gearing up for a mid-June start. Disney has been shepherding a remake of Herbie for years. It finds "Herbie" the Volkswagen bug in the world of NASCAR. Robinson went to Sundance in 2003 with the short film D.E.B.S., which was financed by a grant from the organization PowerUp. Screen Gems then hired Robinson to turn the short into a feature film. The process took a year, and the film is scheduled to be released this year.
