Iowa jury convicts Web hook-up killer

An Iowa jury on Wednesday convicted Jon Matthew McGee, 24, of second-degree murder for killing a married man he met through a gay personals Web site. McGee was found guilty of stabbing Terry Graham to death last year in a motel room, after the two connected through the site. The 52-year-old Graham was a former pastor, reportedly in Des Moines on business. Prosecutors had sought a first-degree murder conviction for McGee, saying that the killing was premeditated. The defense argued that McGee, who had a history of mental illness, was legally insane at the time of the stabbing. Defense attorney Peter Berger said that the second-degree conviction was "the correct verdict." McGee now faces a mandatory 50-year prison sentence. (Sirius OutQ News)
