The gay father/son team of Mel and Mike White were axed from The Amazing Race 's 14th season in an episode that aired Sunday night on CBS.
Mel White -- a gay former evangelist and the current president of the LGBT interfaith social justice organization Soulforce -- was competing in the round-the-world game show with his 38-year-old bisexual screenwriter-actor son, Mike White. The Whites were the last team to arrive at the game's sixth pit stop in Phuket, Thailand, and were therefore eliminated from the race.
"We've been father and son my whole life, but I don't ever really think we've been teammates, and being teammates brings a whole different kind of camaraderie than you get in normal life, so that was a great gift that the Race gave us," Mike White, the writer of films like Chuck and Buck and The Good Girl , told Race host Phil Keoghan after being eliminated.
