An LGBT media watchdog is demanding that Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson apologize for his use of homophobic language on his Twitter account as well as toward reporters in the team locker room.
After a 37-7 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, Johnson told reporters to "Get your f****t ass out of here," TheKansas City Star
reported on Monday. Following that incident, Johnson got into a heated
debate on Twitter, where he called one follower a "Christopher
Street boy" and a "fag."
"Professional athletes who use this word need to be held accountable for feeding a climate of intolerance toward our community," said Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation president Jarrett Barrios. "NFL officials need to take action and condemn this and future uses of this antigay epithet."
Chiefs coach Todd Haley, whom Johnson also insulted on Twitter on Sunday night, said the incident was being investigated.
