Lesbian Swedish soccer player Jessica Landstrom is coming stateside after signing with New Jersey's Sky Blue FC for the 2010 season.

The forward played on the Swedish national team and turned in a promising performance at the Euro Cup in September. She started playing professionally in 2001 and debuted on the global level in 2007 in a game against Denmark, where she scored her first international goal, according to the Women's Professional Soccer League.

"WPS is the most interesting league in the world, so I am really looking forward to being part of it," Landstrom said. "The best players in the world play and will play in WPS next year. I am a person who lives for competition and being constantly challenged, as well as consistently developing my game to play really good football. All of this I am going to do while I am playing for Sky Blue FC, so it was an important but simple decision."

Landstrom joins Natasha Kai, another out lesbian player, who played for the U.S. team in the 2008 Olympic games. The team won the league championship in 2009.
