Fox's hit high school comedy Glee was picked up for a second season, the network announced Monday. Star Chris Colfer, who plays snarky student Kurt on the series, announced the news first by tweeting "Glee got picked up for a second season!!!!!" shortly after the announcement was made.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will play host to a nationwide search for three new singers to step into the fold. Casting calls will begin in February for professional and amateur actors between the ages of 16 and 26.

"Anybody and everybody now has a chance to be on a show about talented underdogs," cocreator and executive producer Ryan Murphy said in a statement. "No matter who you are -- a Broadway talent or a struggling singing waiter with a dream in the Midwest -- you now have an opportunity to make that dream come true by posting your talent video and showing us what you can do."
