Parliament Hosts Civil Partnership Ceremony

The United Kingdom's parliament hosted its first ever same-sex civil
partnership ceremony when European minister Chris Bryant wed his
partner, Jared Cranney, at the Palace of Westminster on Saturday.
The ceremony took place in the Members' Dining Room, overlooking the Thames.
In a statement, the couple expressed their appreciation at the recent strides gays and lesbians have made in Britain: "Only a few years ago you could sack people or refuse to serve them because of their sexuality and gays were banned from adopting or getting married."
