U.S. senator Evan Bayh of Indiana shocked the crowd at the 2010 Indiana Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner Friday when he made a joke about AIDS during his speech.
The Democrat later apologized for the joke, claiming he was misunderstood and noting that he'd repeatedly voted for AIDS funding, that according to Bilerico.com, members of the Indiana Stonewall Democrats were so offended by the joke, they walked out.
State party chair Dan Parker said later in a statement that the group was overreacting and that any offense was "obviously unintentional."
